These cards have been designed to be used with 9-11 year olds and will help to raise childrens awareness of the range of STEM careers open to them, some of the career opportunities available in industry and the advantages of studying STEM subjects when they are older.

CIEC have produced Enabling Accurate Teacher Assessment in Primary Science, which includes comprehensive guidance for teachers of all year groups on how to carry out ongoing assessments and make useful contributions to end of key stage judgements. This second edition is to be used for the academic year 2018/19 onward.

This resource provides an opportunity for children to investigate a variety of ‘mixtures’ and the means by which they are best separated. The activities are put in context using a storybook, in which two sisters are presented with tubs of mixed objects to sort out. One of the sisters always wants to find the easiest way to sort the objects, and the other sister begins to use the same approach.
