A non-accredited history and heritage course

Course Code

Course Description

From the fanciest court gown to a factory worker’s clogs, clothing can tell us a vast amount about past lives.

This course will use a variety of sources to examine what people really wore and why in the centuries before mass-produced standardised clothing became the norm. We will trace the evidence for clothing and fashions from the richest to the poorest, exploring what this can reveal about the wearers, their society and the wider world at the time.
