This in-person short course will allow interpreter trainers and colleagues interested in interpreter training to expand your skill set through gaining both an in-depth understanding of ASR, LLMs and AI for interpreting and interpreter training, technology integration in the curriculum, and hands-on experience with a bespoke Computer-Assisted Interpreting (CAI) tool in the booth. Participants can add an extra day with a focus on English retour.

This course will enable participants to:

  • Learn about LLMs and AI in relation to interpreting and the interpreting curriculum.

  • Gain an understanding of how a CAI tool works.

  • Gain hands-on experience in using a CAI tool in the booth.

  • Learn how to use a CAI tool for training.

This two day course will provide attendees with an overview of how speech and audio can be used as evidence and an introduction to the field of forensic speech science. 

The course will provide participants with:

  • Increased awareness regarding collection and submission of recorded material

  • Broader knowledge about forensic speaker comparison, including the range of methods applied
