The 14th edition of the Music in Nineteenth-Century Britain conference celebrates the vitality and diversity of music-making across Britain and the British Empire in whatever form it took and wherever it was found, exploring its aesthetic dimensions alongside its meaning for contemporaries, its place in the global market, and its use in the promotion of political and social agendas. Extras

Excursion to Harewood House on Day Three (30th): £21 per person (accompanying persons are welcome at the same rate).  This will include coach transportation from the University to Harewood and back, plus tickets to Harewood House & Grounds and the Austen-Turner Exhibition.  (Cafés on the Harewood Estate will be open for lunch, but this is not included.)  Journey time: approximately 40mins.
 
Conference Dinner at the National Centre for Early Music on Day Three (30th): £50 (includes drinks reception; drinks for the table will need to be purchased from the bar).
 

Accommodation

On-campus bed & breakfast accommodation in student dorms at James College (single rooms only, all en suite - see photos below): £60 per night (£50 for students).  James College is c15 minutes' walk around the lake from the HRC and c10mins from the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall - see interactive map. Please note these rooms are for adults aged 18+.  If you are planning to bring children with you, please get in touch with us (this site is also a useful resource).
