The introduction of printing to Europe in the fifteenth century was a revolutionary innovation. It soon became widely established and during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries the production and sale of print increased to serve an increasing number of people and a growing print culture. This session follows the progress of print looking at the different forms and genres, its manufacturing, sale, and cultural impact to the point where it was critical to English society.
