Course Description

How did markets and fairs develop and operate in medieval England? We will look at the buyers and sellers, the types of goods exchanged including luxury and everyday items, the locations where trading took place, and how they were regulated. Using extracts from historical documents we will piece together the evidence for how these marketing institutions operated.
