Course Description

Maps and plans can sometimes be an overlooked resource when researching local or family history. They can tell us what rural landscapes and urban centres looked like through the ages, who owned or rented property, and how buildings were originally designed and used. In some cases, plans relate to buildings which were never actually constructed at all! In this online introductory session students will be introduced to a range of maps and plans from the collections of the Borthwick Institute, and will learn more about how these resources can bring added value to your research.
