Annual Add-On Payment for 'The Basement' Practice Rooms

All students and staff at the University of York are invited to sign up for FREE membership of The Colleges' Music Program: our program of musical events, activities, mentoring and workshops.  This was set up to provide creative and skills development opportunities as part of the Colleges broad wellbeing program. So whether you are an economist who wants to be a rock star or an archaeologist who wants to compose, or a chemist who wants to create dance music, we have something for you.

The Langwith Basement Practice Spaces: 

Langwith has two acoustic practice rooms at The Basement for group acoustic practice or solo practice, equipped with upright pianos, an electric drumkit and small amplifiers for use with headphones. 

Annual for students £10; Staff £20.

For those just using it for the Summer Vacation 2024 there is a reduced fee.

Next steps after purchase:

• Processing membership add-ons is a manual process, so can take up to 3 working days and may take longer during vacation times.
• Once the add-on to your membership has been purchased through the online store you will need to wait for an email containing terms and conditions that you must sign up to, in order to gain permission to access the space.
• Practice sessions can be booked using the following link between 9am and 8pm and can be made a maximum of 2 weeks but a minimum of 1 hour beforehand - Link to Skeda booking system.
• It is not possible to add access to your personal ID. Instead, you must take some photo ID to the Ron Cook Hub Reception desk to sign out the keycard just before the start of your session and return it there afterwards.
