Copies of the surviving papers relating to the ordination as priest or deacon of an individual in the archdiocese of York.
These files comprise for the most part letters testimonial, si quis notices, certificates of baptism, titles to orders (usually nominations to curacies) and occasional correspondence. The survival of record types varies for each individual and depending on the age of the file - sixteenth century ordination files consist only of letters testimonial.
