The Poetry of the Romantic Era

A non-accredited Literature course.

Course Code

CLL 22/23_NA_195
Course Description

Fascinated by the sublime, by nature’s awe and dread, and by the mysteries of the medieval and ancient world, the poets of the Romantic era remain extremely popular in our culture. Wordsworth’s definition of poetry as ‘the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings’ is striking as it captures the era’s ambitions. In this course we will learn about and explore the stylistic, aesthetic, and moral particularities of the most famous Romantic poets: Keats, Shelley, Coleridge, Blake, Wordsworth, and Lord Byron.
