Course Description

The name ‘Medici’ is synonymous with Renaissance Florence. Rising from migrant farmers to royal status, the family is a symbol of the changing forces which contributed to conclude the medieval era in Italy. They are also a model of patronage and aggrandisement through art and architecture. This day-course will study the history of the House of Medici, focusing on paradigmatic members of the family, such as Lorenzo the Magnificent and Duke Cosimo.
