Course Description

On this illustrated course, we shall explore the history of some of the lost country houses of the East Riding of Yorkshire. These will include Londesborough, connected to the Wars of the Roses and to the Railway King; Warter Priory, home to the Wilson family; and Neswick Hall and nearby Kilnwick Hall, both owned at one time by the Grimston family. Drawing upon the newspaper archives, we shall look at a vanished way of life which centred upon these country houses.
