Course Description

The Asia-Pacific encompasses some of the world’s fastest growing economies, largest militaries and most vibrant cultural powerhouses. Through the lens of international relations theory, we will consider the potential for conflicts in Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula and the South China Sea, the strategies Southeast Asian countries employ to maintain their independence, and the role of economic integration, regional institutions and soft power.
