Philosophy and Fiction

A non-accredited philosophy/religion course

Course Code

CLL 23/24_NA_174
Course Description

What can we learn about philosophy from fiction? How do we even engage with fictional content? During this course we will look at differing accounts of what fiction is and how we engage with it. Is it all make-believe? Or is there a real foundation that underpins our truths about fictions? These accounts will have a variety of implications on how or whether we can learn anything from fiction. This course will then look at how we can learn about interesting metaphysical concepts such as time travel, fatalism, and modality from our engagement with fictions.
