This one-day course will act as an introduction to Vorticism, Britain’s pre-eminent modernist movement of the early twentieth century, which was active between 1914 and 1915. We will look at the philosophical and aesthetic influences, the main figures of the movement, and its legacy. Students will gain an understanding of the visual and literary expression of the movement and be able to position it in a wider context of revolutionary artistic expression.
