Course Description

As Oedipus takes centrestage at the Wyndham’s Theatre this winter (2024), join Gillian Hovell, ‘The Muddy Archaeologist’ as she brings vividly to life Ancient Greek Drama - the tragedies of Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides and comedies. Discover the ancient contexts; what earlier stories and contemporary issues were they engaging with? What were the practicalities of the plays? And, of course, we shall wrap it all together as we explore the ancient Oedipus and how it relates to us today.
