‘Dead Men Do Tell Tales’: An Introduction to Osteoarchaeology

A non-accredited archaeology course

Course Code

CLL 24/25_NA_271
Course Description

Death may mark the end for most, but for osteoarchaeologists, it's just the beginning. Like detectives, we decipher the secrets hidden in bones, piecing together the lives of those long gone. How old was this person? What was their biological sex? What did they endure, and how did they die? And, most intriguingly, how did they live?

Curious to know how it’s done? From excavation to post-excavation analysis, you'll learn the techniques that make bones reveal their untold stories. The session will be half theoretical and half practical, with participants working on real archaeological skeletons.
