Current Issues in Philosophy

A non-accredited philosophy/religion course

Course Code

CLL 23/24_NA_176
Course Description

Is democracy in crisis? Is freedom of speech absolute? What does the rise of artificial intelligence mean for humanity? Should we all become environmentalists? What rights do non-human animals have? Is war ever just? All these questions concern topics which are frequently discussed in the news, social media, and amongst ourselves. How can we examine such questions philosophically? This course will provide attendees with the philosophical tools to approach these issues, as well as the opportunity to discuss such questions via the application of philosophical theories and ideas.
