Course Description

The Commonwealth of Nations comprises over a quarter of the world’s countries, including the UK itself, yet its purpose is not always fully understood. This course will examine what the Commonwealth is (and what it is not), how it was formed, and what it does. It will also address the role of the monarchy in the Commonwealth, particularly in the fifteen Commonwealth Realms, and challenge the perception of the Commonwealth as an outdated remnant of the British Empire.
