Asteroseismology: Dancing with the Stars

A non-accredited Science and Earth Science course.

Course Code

CLL 22/23_NA_221
Course Description

The stars are not static - they dance! Changing their shape on timescales of weeks, hours and even minutes, stars of all ages and sizes pulsate to their own unique song. These pulsations are investigated through Asteroseismology - research carried out here at the University of York. In this course, we will explore how we use starlight to listen to the interior of stars that are many light-years away. What can these songs tell us?
