Course Description

This module will trace the development of modern and postmodern art from Impressionism in the 1870s through to contemporary notions of conceptual and performance art. This module will discuss major art movements of the late nineteenth and twentieth century including Art Nouveau, Cubism, Dadaism, Surrealism and Pop Art and how these interrelate, as well as focusing on significant artists and their work.
