Sexual health and contraception: updating and building upon previous knowledge to inform practice


Course Information


A one-day study day aimed at practice nurses who have already undertaken a contraception and sexual health course, or similar, and require an update in sexual health and how the role can be extended. It will also apply if your role involves the non-medical prescribing of contraceptives.

Please note it is vital that you have undertaken previous study in contraception and sexual health.

Course Description

This study day builds upon the knowledge gained from previous study and offers an update in sexual health and contraception and explores the ways the role may be extended.

The objectives of the day are to:

  • build upon previous knowledge and understanding of sexual health and contraception
  • develop knowledge of UKMEC guidance related to practice
  • build upon knowledge of contraceptive choices related to practice
  • participate in discussion regarding contraceptive methods and contraceptive scenarios to inform practice and care delivery.

The the end of the day you will have an updated knowledge of contraceptive methods and application to practice.

Funded places are available to employees of NHS trusts and primary care staff within Yorkshire and the Humber. We therefore do not charge when you book your place, but will contact you should you not meet the required criteria for a funded place. Non funded places are charged at £100.00, payable in advance.
