Course Description

The objective of the study day is to prepare clinicians working in primary and urgent care with the essential skills and information to manage common abdominal problems and uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) and to identify 'red flags' which require referral.

The content of the day will include:

  • history taking related to abdominal complaints and urinary symptoms
  • physical examination of abdomen
  • discussion of abdominal problems and uncomplicated UTIs commonly seen in primary and urgent care
  • identification of 'red flags' which require referal.

At the end of the day you will have the ability to:

  • take a focused history related to abdominal problems and urinary symptoms
  • perform an examination of the abdomen and urinary system
  • diagnose and treat commonly presenting abdominal problems and uncomplicated UTIs
  • identify 'red flags' in abdominal problems and uncomplicated UTIs which require referral to medical or specialist practitioners.

Funded places are available to employees of NHS trusts and primary care staff within Yorkshire and the Humber. We therefore do not charge when you book your place, but will contact you should you not meet the required criteria for a funded place. Non funded places are charged at £100.00, payable in advance.
