Course Description

The day will look at the pathophysiology of hypertension and the assessment and management of patients with, or at risk of, hypertension. It will look at clinical guidelines for monitoring and managing hypertension in primary care. It will also cover risk factor management and lifestyle advice.

The objectives of the study day are to enable participants to:

  • explain the pathophysiology of hypertension and the link to cardiovascular disease
  • assess patients with hypertension based on national clinical guidelines
  • discuss the management of hypertension in accordance with national clinical guidelines
  • advise patients regarding hypertension lifestyle and risk factor management in relation to the current evidence base.

At the end of the day you will have confidence in:

  • health promotion consultation
  • patient assessment
  • evidence appraisal
  • care planning skills
  • medicines and lifestyle management.

Funded places are available to employees of NHS trusts and primary care staff within Yorkshire and the Humber. We therefore do not charge when you book your place, but will contact you should you not meet the required criteria for a funded place. Non funded places are charged at £100.00, payable in advance.
