Course Description

This one day study day will provide:

  • a brief overview of the musculoskeletal system
  • a systematic assessment of musculoskeletal system injuries and criteria for X-Ray
  • basic assessment of wounds and simple head injury.

Content of the day will include:

  • an introduction to the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system
  • common presentation of musculoskeletal injuries in primary care
  • basic physical assessment of musculoskeletal injuries in primary care
  • application of the Ottawa Criteria for X-Ray.

Each study day has a number of NHS funded places, with support of Health Education England across Yorkshire and the Humber (HEE Y&H).

Funded places are available to employees of NHS trusts and primary care staff within Yorkshire and the Humber and to anyone working in an area which provides placements for University of York nursing or midwifery students. This also applies to nursing staff working in the ambulance service, prison service and hospices. Places may be available to social services staff working in a healthcare environment. This is agreed on a case-by-case basis.

We therefore do not charge when you book your place, but will contact you should you not meet the required criteria for a funded place. Non funded places are charged at 100.00, payable in advance.

Please follow the booking process all the way through. You should receive a confirmation email. Please note that your booking is not confirmed until you have received a confirmation email. If you experience a problem during the online booking process please contact Jane Milsom on 01904 321392.
