Course Description

York is known throughout the world for its extraordinary heritage and archaeological excavations which allow fascinating glimpses into the city’s past. Roman roads now hidden under modern buildings, the shallow traces of Anglo-Saxon houses, forgotten burials and lost churches have all come to light in recent years. These lectures will delivered by two archaeologists who made their careers in York, and who will select from amongst the Roman, Anglo-Saxon, Viking age and medieval highlights of York’s archaeology.

Ailsa Mainman BA PhD and Patrick Ottaway BA PhD
