Course Description

When Hitler and Goering ordered the Luftwaffe to bomb British cities, The Second World War became the first fought inside British homes as well as the distant edges of the globe. This course will introduce you to the wide range of literature produced in Britain during the war, from TS Eliot and Dylan Thomas’s poetry to the short stories of Elizabeth Bowen and George Orwell’s journalism, considering such enduring themes as war, home and survival.
