Course Description

This course visits foundational features of the human condition. It pursues three philosophical themes: What is the nature and limits of reason? How do language and thought relate? How is knowledge constituted? Reason, language and knowledge are traditional philosophical subjects and the course will draw on many of the philosophical ‘greats’. But the focus here is on how these enormous questions reveal limits to reason, language and knowledge as they relate to our lives today. It is a course about limits and boundaries and constructions - ours.
