Course Description

Margaret Clitherow was one of many Roman Catholics in late sixteenth century York who were persecuted for their faith, but she was the only woman in York who was executed by being crushed to death. Discover the reasons why Margaret Clitherow was executed on Good Friday 1586 and how bitter religious divisions in Tudor York, and even in her own family, resulted in her imprisonment, trial and death. It is anticipated that this course will be held at the King’s Manor.
