Course Description

This module explores the emergence and development of the historic county of Yorkshire. Tracking key events in the history of the county from the advent of the Romans, this module will explore the impacts of the Anglian kingdom of Northumbria, Viking Jorvik and the Norman Conquest in creating the cultural identify of Yorkshire. We will also explore how Yorkshire developed during and after the medieval period, and the impact of monasticism and trade on the county.
