Course Description

Drawing on recent research this course, run in association with the Transport for London archive, looks at the history of London’s transport networks between the 1860s and 1960s. Brought alive through original archival material, it examines the development of London’s different transport modes, how they shaped the city’s urban development and topography, changed how people moved, and ultimately how transport influenced Londoners’ lives. The course does not seek to cover every subject in its entirety, but is a gateway to further learning and discovery.
