Course Description

In this module we will explore the variety of ways in which archaeologists study the remains of historic buildings, engaging with different sources of architectural and archival data. Over the duration of the module, we will develop a critical understanding and seek to describe some of the characteristics of buildings, and the archaeological data they generate. To offer a local flavour, we will also endeavour to explore the buildings history of some of York’s standing buildings whilst coming to an understanding of some of the methods used by archaeologists to study architecture.
