Course Description

Uncertainty and risk will not go away. We understand life in terms of the evidence available to us and we have to make decisions to survive. These are simple, although sometimes brutal, difficult and nearly always complex, facts of life. This course traces the nature and interconnectedness of various risks from cyber-attack to water shortage to infrastructure failure and to the mass and forced migrations of people and many others. It will evaluate and examine the nature of the evidence that relates both to the risk itself and of the evidence required to anticipate and manage current and future risk situations. Finally it considers our processes of decision making - both as we may like it to be, and as it is.
