Course Description

The Persian, Greek, Roman and Byzantine Empires together with the Caliphates, contributed to the foundation of ‘our’ world. Their ‘rise and fall’ left legacies spanning the arts, sciences, and technology, the permanence of which may be seen in a diversity of influences still interactive within the culture of contemporary European societies. We shall, therefore, explore this translation as applied, in the spectrum of learning, economics, political philosophy, and increasingly, in the often powerful expression of ‘religion’ across both time and Empires.
