Course Description

The modern-day city of York is filled with reminders of its power and prosperity in the medieval period. This day session will consider the nature of power in Medieval York - civic, royal, and religious - and examine how this power shaped the city. We will discuss archaeological finds and take a virtual tour, highlighting key medieval survivals as well as some hidden gems and less obvious features, alongside aspects and contexts now lost. It is anticipated that this course will be held at the King’s Manor.
