Course Description

The module aims to introduce creative writing students to a wide range of genre fiction including science fiction, fantasy, crime, thriller, horror and romance. The reading of texts will be combined with opportunities for students to write frequently and to attempt genres they may not have tried before. They will be introduced to the conventions associated with these genres. Focus will also be upon the interpretation of genre in contemporary fiction, with students encouraged to experiment with crossing genre boundaries in their work.
