Course Description

Modernist poetry is notoriously difficult to understand and often leaves readers cold and confused. And yet, like studying Shakespeare’s plays, reading modern poetry can be immensely rewarding if we make the effort to grasp its technical intricacies and imaginative wordplay. This course offers an insight into modernist techniques and will give you the confidence to read and appreciate famous poems by TS Eliot, Hilda Doolittle, WH Auden, Wallace Stevens, and many others.
