Course Description

Popular history often focuses on big events and ‘wonderful things’; kings and emperors, castles and monuments, gold and treasure. In archaeology, however, our closest connection to the people of the past is through small finds - the everyday objects made, used, lost, and thrown away. With hands-on access to a range of artefacts - prehistoric, Roman, medieval and beyond - we will discuss different ways to consider and interpret archaeological objects (from flint tools to coins, pots and brooches).
