Course Description

This course offers an introductory overview of how different cultures have dealt with death. Looking at beliefs and ritual, as well as cultural approaches to grief and mourning, sessions will examine the changing ways in which we have dealt with death. Considering historical and geographical differences, this course will use a variety of sources to explore how different societies have dealt with death, dying and funerary practices.
