Course Description

Contemporaries look with increasing attention at baroque art: many similarities connect us to this cultural phenomenon, such as the crisis of traditional systems or the emotional excess of visual communication. Yet, because of the complex thinking that lies under it, something of this artistic movement always eludes our full comprehension. The course aims to disentangle the complexities of baroque, by contextualising it, by discovering its main features, and finally, by examining its different expressions, synchronically and diachronically.
